Interesting place for adults, kids , families or couples, real insight on how some of these children used to live, the jobs they would have to do & what they would have to get up to on a daily basis, there is areas where kids can interact & carry out tasks, there is also a cafe, toilets on site, would recommended this place however if you dont have a national trust card th prices would be expensive
Fascinating historical place. Well worth the visit. National Trust property. Beautifully presented. Excellent coffee shop. Scones are delicious!
Really fascinating to see how the poor would have lived in the workhouse. Well with a visit to see a little bit of history that cannot be found anywhere else. It takes you from the origin of the workhouses right up to when this workhouse was still being used into the 1970's.
Very interesting. My granddaughter was relieved society doesn't treat poor people like that these days. The only saving grace about workhouses is that children were fed and received some sort of education.
This place is a must for all the family, such an interesting place full of nostalgia.The staff are so knowledgeable and interact with the children throughout. You do the tour on your own but as all national trust places staff are on hand to offer more if you want. It's hard to imagine life in this place years ago when you was so desperate you had no option but to go here, it must of been so hard, you was separated from your family, made to work to earn your keep. But it did provide a roof over their heads etc.
